CAF names Johannesburg host city for AYC
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says Johannesburg will be the host city for the African Youth Championship after it was moved from conflict-hit Libya.
CAF said in a statement Tuesday that the eight-nation tournament will now run from April 17 to May 1. The tournament was initially scheduled to hold in March.
The move means that the Libyan team will be replaced by South Africa's under-20 team as the host nation.
CAF said venues in Johannesburg would be named later.
South Africa replace Libya in Group A, which includes Mali, Lesotho and Egypt, while Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and Gambia will compete in Group B.
The semi finalists will represent the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup slated for 29 July-20 August, 2011 in Colombia.
