Togo’s population doubles, say latest census results
Togo’s population has nearly doubled in the last thirty years, with more women than men, according results of the general population census just released in the capital, Lome.
Currently, the West African nation’s population stands at 6, 191.155 million people.
Women make up 51.4% of the, while the men are 48.6 %.
Yao Kokou Nguissan, Director of the National Statistics and Accounting Department, which supervised the census, tells WADR’s Lome Correspondent Ida Badjo that the bulk of the country’s population is young people.
