“Beauty Curse” hits Sierra Leone growing movie industry
The movie industry in Sierra Leone has now begun to make headway, both locally and internationally, promoters and producers say.
Many professionals in the business say movies produced in the country some five years ago were not as good as produced today. The lower standards that existed in the past made foreign movies such as Nigerian Nulliwood and American Hollywood films to take center stage in the country.
“Beauty Curse” is the title of a new movie which is said to have hit Freetown by storm. It’s on the life of a former Sierra Leonean beauty queen.
Considered an exceptionally beautiful young woman, A. Cole won Miss Sierra Leone beauty pageant in 2002, but she shockingly died shortly thereafter.
The film producer--Premier media consultancy is one of the leading movie production companies in Freetown, which did a preview of Beauty Curse this week.
WADR’s Freetown Correspondent Mohamed Konneh interviews the movie’s Director, Dr. Julius Spencer Spencer who was also one time Sierra Leone’s Information Minister.
