Concerns mount over depreciation of Ghana currency
Ghana's currency, the cedi is depreciating against major foreign currencies and this is affecting prices and the sale of goods and services in the country.
the value of the cedi has been falling steadily for several months now.
Many Ghanaians have said they thought the value of their currency would have strengthened now that the country has become an oil producing nation.
But last week, the country’s Central Bank dismissed rumours that it was planning to impose a freeze on all accounts being held in foreign currencies in Ghana.
There have been calls on the Central Bank to act fast, in order to stop the continuing fall in the value of the Cedi, as you’ll hear in this report from WADR’s Accra Correspondent Kofi Agyepong.
