“Do I look like a dead person?” -Mills denies Ghana rumours
Ghana’s President John Atta Mills proved rumour mongerers wrong over the weekend, when he appeared at the Kotoka International airport in Accra to dispel rumours of his death.
“This is not the first time that I’ve heard people say this about me. Let me just say that I am very, very strong and I don’t know the basis for saying that I am dead,” the Ghanaian leader told journalists on Sunday.
It was widely rumoured, especially on social media network sites, that the President died on Saturday night, but it turned out to be false.
Instead, the Ghanaian leader popped up at the International Airport in the company of Vice President John Mahama and some of his cabinet ministers Sunday afternoon.
In a brief statement to reporters President Mills, who will be 68 in July, dispelled the rumour, saying he was on his way to the US for “medical check-up.”
“Do I look like a dead person,” said the Ghanaian leader who expects to contest December’s presidential election to secure his second mandate.
