Nigeria’s President Goodluck resists public asset declaration
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has said on Monday that he was not prepared for another public declaration of his assets.
Speaking to the media in Abuja on Monday morning, President Jonathan said for him, public asset declaration was a matter of principle.
This move comes as the Nigerian public has been made aware that public declaration of assets by public office holders is a compulsory task.
WADR’s Abuja Correspondent has said Jonathan’s new position is seen as a departure from the Act setting up the Code of Conduct Bureau, a body charged with the responsibility of administering asset declaration.
Jonathan took the oath of office in May 2011, after winning election, which was followed by violent riots in parts of the country.
